The Treasure Island Master Plan is a landmark urban redevelopment initiative transforming the former naval base in the San Francisco Bay into a sustainable, high-density, mixed-use community. Spanning over 400 acres across Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island, the plan envisions more than 8,000 residential units, alongside hundreds of acres of open space, a new ferry terminal, commercial and retail space, and extensive multi-modal transportation infrastructure. Designed with sea level rise resilience and environmental stewardship in mind, the master plan integrates green infrastructure, adaptive reuse of land, and walkable neighborhoods centered around public parks and waterfront access. With a phased development strategy extending over two decades, the Treasure Island Master Plan represents a model for large-scale urban regeneration, balancing density, mobility, sustainability, and social equity in one of the Bay Area’s most iconic settings.
